The regular Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Shot contains 1 ounce vanilla vodka, 1 ounce pineapple juice and 1 drop grenadine.
However, there are many variations for this shot. Since there are many different vanilla and pineapple vodkas and rums, you can play combining these until you find the best tasting combination, also, play with the densities of liquors such as amaretto and syrups like grenadine to obtain a layered shot that resembles the real cake. Always keep in mind the original ingredients of the pineapple upside-down cake.
Another type of Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Shot contains 1 ounce of vanilla rum, 1 ounce of pineapple juice, a splash of amaretto and a splash of grenadine. A variation of this shot can include vanilla vodka instead of vanilla rum. Pineapple rum or vodka can also be used, but make sure to add a splash of vanilla liqueur.
A delicious mojito style cocktail can be done by smashing some canned pineapples with a little of their juice in a tall glass, adding ice, vanilla rum, and half pineapple juice, half soda water. Splash some grenadine and top with a pineapple cutout and a cherry.
Another delicious pineapple upside-down cake cocktail or drink can be served in a chilled martini glass with a sugar and cinnamon rim. In a mixing glass, add ice, vanilla vodka, pineapple rum, a splash of amaretto and a splash of pineapple juice. Mix well and pour into martini glass. Garnish with a toothpick with three maraschino cherries.
For another pineapple upside-down cake cocktail, you can use a tall drinking glass and fill it 1/3 with ice, add a double shot of vanilla vodka, a single shot of coconut rum, fill the glass with pineapple juice and add a splash of grenadine, the grenadine will sink to the bottom of the glass and make it look like an upside-down pineapple cake.
Finally, the very popular frozen pineapple upside down drink includes 1 1/2 ounce vanilla rum, ½ ounce amaretto, 4 ounces pineapple juice, 2 ounces coconut cream and 1 cup crushed ice. Blend everything and to a chilled glass add grenadine to the sides at the top so it drips down, add the frozen concoction. Top with pineapple and cherry.
